We Outgrew Ours Too

We spend most of our time telling businesses they've outgrown how they look. It's a strange feeling when it's your turn.

Always in flux

Our logo has been in flux for as long as we've had one. I think that's because we always knew where it was meant to end up. The dream was to have it made by our clients. A business is made of the people who buy from it, so it seemed pretty obvious that they should be the ones to draw it.

So we made a book

The only thing in the way was numbers. We needed a bank of faces, and that takes time. So we made a book. Whenever we meet a client, they fill in a page and draw us a smiley, and one client at a time, the bank built up.

Not all of them made it

Those faces are the brand now. I should admit that some of them are completely unusable. I say that with love. They can't fit into the system yet, so for now they're consigned to the book. I'd like to expand the system down the road and find them a place.

Where it's landed

I'm really happy with where it's landed. It looks like who we are and where we are. The new site echoes that. It's more refined, more confident in itself, and it speaks to bigger businesses about bigger work. I'm grateful we got to do it, and more grateful to everyone who picked up the pen.

A new website can look like a vanity project. To me it's just more evidence that the business is growing.
